NewsKohinata Marco’s “Akari” Nominated for the 2026 American Manga Awards

MINT creator, Kohinata Marco, and her manga Akari were recently nominated for the 2026 American Manga Awards in the Best One-Shot Manga division.

The American Manga Awards are presented by LeftField Media with the purpose of honoring exceptional manga, talented creators, and the publishers who translate and make them available to readers in the US and Canada. This will be their third year running.

Eligible nominees in the Best One-Shot Manga category must have had English versions of their work published between Aug.1st 2025 to July 31st 2026. The current list of five nominees include:
– Kohinata Marco, Akari, Glacier Bay Books
– Kondoh Akino, Box Garden Beetle, Glacier Bay Books
– Kyo Machiko, Cocoon, VIZ Media
– Rintaro, My Life in 24 Frames per Second, Kana/Abrams
– Suehiro Maruo, The Strange Tale of Panorama Island, Last Gasp

Other categories include Best New Manga, Best Continuing Manga, Best New Edition of Classic Manga, Best Translation, Best Lettering, and Best Publication Design. The deadline for nominations is July 28th 2026 at 5 PM Eastern Standard Time, with the ceremony taking place on August 20th 2026 at the Japan Society.
